All coaches do not have to be psychologists. However, coaching is change and change is a psychological process. Dr. Skiffington has a Bachelor of Arts degree, a Masters of Clinical Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. In the 1980's while teaching psychology at university, her research in human performance in an organizational environment led her to begin coaching. She has published widely and has taught psychology and business coaching in some of the regions leading universities. In 1998 she pioneered and published research on 'Towards a Validation of Multiple Features in the Assessment of Emotions' that has stimulated new research and instrument development in this domain by personality, social, and developmental psychologists. She is a best-selling author and has been invited to speak to hundreds of organizations and professionals involved in training, teaching, therapy and consulting on her successful coaching techniques.  

Her loyal clientele, spanning six countries, included several Fortune 500 companies including Leo Burnett Connaghan & May, Coles Myer, Clemenger Group, Mercantile Mutual, Westpac, C.W.F.S. McCann and a number of high profile business and sporting identities including successful national football premiership coaches.

With some justification for her work, her best selling, groundbreaking reference books ('The Complete Guide to Coaching at Work' and 'The Coaching at Work Toolkit: A Complete Guide to Techniques and Practices' -see top of page: 'Books etc' tab) have received numerous awards and are now course reference texts in many universities, colleges, coaching schools and numerous Fortune 500 companies internal training programs.
